Attention, Bloggers: These are the Most Instagrammable Restaurants in NYC
Some of us eat to live, some of us live to eat, and some of us live to instagram what we eat. It’s 2015, and it’s sad but true. I know I’m guilty of requesting a certain table for the sake of having proper lighting for my kale salad. Here are the restaurants that have it all: pretty food, good lighting, and instagrammable tables. If you’re serious about this, you know what a good table can do for your like count.
I’ll buy you a green juice if you can tell me what’s more instagrammable than an acai bowl. From the colorful salads to the various toasts and bowls, Dimes might just be the most instagrammable restaurant in the city. The space is clean and bright, and the only thing prettier than the food is the people eating it.
29 CANAL STREET, CHINATOWN
Jack’s Wife Freda
Ah, yes, Jack’s Wife Freda. Not a Saturday goes by when I do not see a gram of avocado toast or green shakshuka from this famous Soho brunch spot on my feed. Basic betches and self-proclaimed foodies alike line up, not just for the delicious food, but also for the buzzy atmosphere in the heart of Soho.
224 LAFAYETTE STREET, SOHO
40 CARMINE STREET, GREENWICH VILLAGE
Russ and Daughters Cafe
What is it about bagels and lox that makes us want to drop our panties? Or if not, take a picture? From the crisp white interior, to the post-gym salads, to the panty dropper bagels, it’s an instagrammer’s dream.
127 ORCHARD STREET, BOWERY
Two worlds: yolk porn. Or… one word: #yolkporn. While Portland might put birds on things, in New York, we put eggs on things. Average sandwich? Put and egg on it! Basic avocado toast? Put an egg on it! Simple salad? Put. An. Egg. On. It. Egg Shop’s creations are as delicious as they are (yolk) pornographic.
151 ELIZABETH STREET, NOLITA
Tacombi at Fonda Nolita
There’s nothing like an aerial shot of a spread of tacos and guac – they’re colorful, everybody likes them, and having a bunch of them on a table shows everyone that you have a lot of friends, or (more likely) a lot of appetite. But it’s not just the perfectly topped array of tacos that draws grammers from round the world to Tacombi – it’s the open-air atmosphere, which feels like an 80s garage in Mexico. There are vintage advertisements on the walls, string lights, and an 80s Volkswagen bus that has been converted into a taco making station.
267 ELIZABETH STREET, NOLITA
Is it the colorful plates, the orange and blue tropical umbrellas, the perfectly plated costal Italian food, or the tiki mugs that put Santina on the geo-map? The restaurant, essentially a glass box underneath the High Line, is a spectacle in itself.
820 WASHINGTON STREET, MEATPACKING
Bluestone Lane Collective
Is there a meal more instagrammable than brunch? From the yolk porn to the #cheatday pancakes, the options are limitless, and every weekend without fail, we abuse our brunch power. It’s brunch all day, every day at Bluestone Lane, and you’ll be torn between posting a picture of your beautiful avocado toast or your expertly poured latte art.
55 GREENWICH AVE, WEST VILLAGE
The Butcher’s Daughter
Maybe it’s the glass jars of green juice, maybe it’s the colorful salads, or maybe it’s the envy-inducing, curated shelves lining the walls of the Butcher’s Daughter that make it the perfect place to gram your food. Sit outside and watch the world go by, or grab a table indoors and take in the rustic “urban farm” atmosphere.
19 KENMARE STREET, NOLITA
They come for the meringue dessert, they stay for…well, everything else. While that dessert may just be the single most instagrammed dish of 2015, there’s a long menu of equally beautifully plated dishes on Cosme’s menu as well. Practically impenetrable when it opened earlier this year, it’s now possible to walk in and eat at tables near the bar, which are reserved for walk-ins. Just don’t forget dessert – that’s why you came, remember?!
35 EAST 21ST STREET, FLATIRON
